My Back Pain Story:
My name is Vinny Crispino, founder of Pain Academy. In my early 20s, I broke my back in a surfing accident. As an 8x All-American Olympic hopeful, that injury didn’t just take me out of my sport—it shattered my identity, my confidence, and my trust in movement.
Even after the bones healed, the pain lingered. For years.
And the usual advice—strengthen your core, stretch your hips, keep pushing—didn’t work. Because the issue wasn’t just physical. My nervous system had learned to protect me, even when I didn’t need protection anymore.
My real healing began when I stopped forcing movement and started retraining it—from the inside out. I dedicated over a decade to studying the nervous system, biomechanics, and the deeper patterns that drive chronic pain.
That journey led me to create a method that goes far beyond traditional rehab.
